Miao Song is a Part-time Faculty member and Affiliate Assistant Professor at Concordia University, holding dual affiliations in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering and the Design and Computation Arts program. She holds a PhD in the Science, Innovation, and Policy (SIP) program, bridging her background in performance arts with computer science expertise. Her research focuses on interactive environments, haptic technology, and the intersection of 3D computer graphics with documentary cinema.
Dr. Song’s education includes a Bachelor’s in Performance Arts and Direction from China, followed by a Master’s in Computer Science (Concordia) and a PhD in the SIP program. Her work has been showcased at major festivals such as the Beijing International Film Festival and HTMlles, where her short documentary I Still Remember received critical acclaim.
Her Illimitable Space System (ISS) project demonstrates her commitment to applying cutting-edge technologies in educational and artistic contexts, tested at events like the Concordia Open House and Montreal Eureka! Festival. Awards include Best Short Documentary at BJIFF and selection for top-tier film festivals.
