Associate Professor Mia Schaumberg holds a position at the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC), School of Health and Behavioural Sciences, Department of Physiology. She previously worked at the University of Queensland (UQ) as a Research Fellow and Associate Lecturer, maintaining an honorary adjunct role there. Her research focuses on exercise physiology, healthy ageing, neurodegenerative diseases, endocrine function, and female athlete health. Key contributions include establishing the UQ Centre for Exercise and Healthy Brain Ageing, which investigates neurophysiological changes linked to exercise in older adults. Her methodologies involve clinical interventions, cognitive assessments, and biomarkers like DXA for bone health and multimodal MRI. She teaches Human Physiology and Systemic Physiology, and is available for guest lectures in endocrinology and neuroscience.
