Prof. Dr. Metin ÖZDEMİR is a full-time Professor at the Department of Fundamental Islamic Sciences, Faculty of Religious Sciences, Ankara University of Social Sciences. His academic journey includes doctoral studies in Theology from Ankara University (1998) and master's (1994) and bachelor's (1990) degrees in Theological fields. He has held professorships at Cumhuriyet University (1995–2013) and Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (2013–2018) before his current position. He served as Department Chair (2018–2020) and Head of the Academic Discipline (2018–present).
His research focuses on Kalam (Islamic philosophy), Islamic sects, divine justice, and theological ethics. He has advised 16 PhD and master’s students on topics like theological methodology, medieval Islamic thought, and contemporary religious issues. His 92 publications include books like İlahi Adalet ve Rahmet Penceresinden Kötülük ve Musibetler and over 20 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Türk Studies and Eskiyeni.
Prof. ÖZDEMİR leads projects on systematic kalam, Islamic intellectual history, and contemporary theological challenges. His work addresses modern issues like transhumanism, divine predestination, and theodicy while critiquing atheistic arguments and exploring contextual theology approaches.
