Merzai Bakiasi is a doctoral researcher at the Department of Functional Microbiology of Livestock, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, University of Hohenheim (since January 2024). Previously, he worked as a Veterinary Specialist at Albania's National Authority for Veterinary and Plant Protection (2022-2023). His research focuses on host-microbiome interactions in dairy cows and their implications for energy metabolism.
- Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural University of Tirana (2017-2022)
His work connects microbiome clusters with physiological variances in livestock, particularly during metabolic stress periods like calving and lipopolysaccharide challenges. Current projects include WiMiQ, investigating microbiome-driven cellular energy regulation.
Recent publications demonstrate his specialization in longitudinal microbiome analysis across lactation stages, with applications in improving dairy cow resilience through microbial profiling. Collaborations include institutions like Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut and University of Bonn.
