Meryle Weinstein is a Research Professor of Education Policy at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. Her work focuses on educational inequality, school food policies, pupil transportation equity, and the built environment’s impact on student outcomes. She also conducts epidemiological research on rugby injuries, particularly analyzing gender disparities and injury patterns in collision sports.
Dr. Weinstein holds a doctorate from NYU’s Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and previously researched substance abuse and HIV at the UCSF Center for AIDS Prevention Studies. She teaches courses in education policy and statistics, including Cracking the Code: Understanding Research in Education and Social Policy for undergraduates.
Her research collaborations include the American Museum of Natural History’s Urban Advantage program, evaluating science education initiatives and teacher retention strategies. She also examines the economic and health implications of sports injuries, particularly among US rugby-7s players, and has conducted seminal studies on transportation inequities in New York City schools.
