Mery Ferrando is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Tilburg University's Tilburg School of Economics and Management. Her research focuses on applied microeconomics, family economics, poverty and inequality, and economics of education, with a strong emphasis on UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to poverty eradication and education equity.

Her work combines absolute and relative poverty analysis, preference heterogeneity in poverty measurement, and policy evaluation through event studies and difference-in-differences methods. Recent publications examine leadership representation effects on education and global poverty metrics.
She supervises PhD student Giuseppe Musillo (with David Schindler) and teaches courses including Intermediate Microeconomics (BSc) and Gender Economics in Applied Economic Analysis (MSc). Research collaborations span US and global contexts, with methodological expertise in hierarchical indices and poverty modeling.
