Merve Jensen

Merve Jensen is a research associate at the Christian Albrechts University Kiel, affiliated with the Marine Geophysics and Hydroacoustics Team under Prof. Dr. Sebastian Krastel. Her work focuses on shallow water mapping, habitat characterization, and integration of hydroacoustic and optical data in coastal and land-to-ocean transition zones.

Research Interests: Specializing in coastal geophysics, Merve employs opto-acoustic methods to study complex underwater landscapes, gas vent mapping, and Holocene drainage systems. Her expertise includes habitat mapping and multi-sensor data fusion.

Expeditions/Summer Schools: Participated in field campaigns like the Mt. Etna summer school (2023), Baltic Sea student trips (2023), and hydroacoustic mapping missions (2022–2023) across Heligoland, Darss Sill, and the Southern Baltic Sea.
