Dr. Mervat J. Sha'ini is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Rush Medical College and serves as Director of the Center for Women's Behavioral and Mental Health. Her clinical and academic work centers on specialized psychiatric care with particular emphasis on women's mental health issues.
Dr. Sha'ini's research and clinical interests include:

She completed her medical education at the University of Jordan Medical School and her psychiatry residency at Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Sha'ini treats a comprehensive range of psychiatric conditions with special expertise in women's health issues throughout various life stages, including adjustment disorders, ADHD, bereavement, bipolar disorder, depression, OCD, panic disorder, PTSD, and dyspareunia (painful intercourse).
Her clinical practice spans two locations: Rush Behavioral Medicine (outpatient) - West Campus at 2150 W Harrison St, Chicago, IL, and the Westgate Building at 1645 W Jackson Blvd, Chicago, IL. As an academic faculty member, she contributes to the education and training of medical students and residents at Rush Medical College while directing specialized services through the Center for Women's Behavioral and Mental Health.
