Meret Aeppli

Meret Aeppli is an Assistant Professor (tenure track) at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC), the Institute of Environmental Engineering (IIE), and the Soil Biogeochemistry Laboratory (SOIL). She is also associated with the Environmental Sciences and Engineering teaching program at EPFL.

Her research centers on soil biogeochemistry and environmental chemistry, with a specific focus on the fate and behavior of environmental contaminants. Her work integrates principles from environmental sciences and engineering to understand chemical processes in soil systems.

Meret Aeppli has been recognized for her contributions with the Jin Jingfu Memorial Lecture Award (2024) from the International Association of Geochemistry.

• Advising: She supervises several doctoral students, including Bright Kristina, Defrang Emma Lorraine, Dienes Bence, and Morales Undurraga Camila José.

She is actively involved in teaching courses such as Environmental Chemistry and Fate and Behaviour of Environmental Contaminants.
