Meredith H. Wernick, MD is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She specializes in treating malignancies using advanced radiation modalities such as IMRT, IGRT, SRS, SBRT, and brachytherapy, with a focus on precision oncology and patient-centered care.
- Education: MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine (2007), BS and BA in Chemistry and Molecular & Cell Biology from UC Berkeley (1996)
- Training: Internship in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University Hospital (2007-2008), Residency in Radiation Oncology at NIH/National Cancer Institute (2008-2012), Chief Resident (2011-2012)
Her research spans molecular oncology, biomarker discovery, and radiation response mechanisms. Key areas include:
- Biomarkers for radiation response
- Genomic/proteomic cancer profiling
- Personalized radiation therapy strategies
- Cancer survivorship and patient navigation
Dr. Wernick has contributed to studies on prostate, ovarian, breast, and islet cell carcinomas, as well as DNA repair mechanisms. Earlier work involved biotech development of genomic tools at UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and Sigma-Aldrich Corporation.
