Irell and Manella Graduate School of Biological Sciencesمعرفی
Meng Zhang, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at The Scripps Research Institute (La Jolla, CA). His research focuses on understanding cellular organization, interactions, and homeostasis in native environments using spatial multi-omics tools combined with advanced imaging and computational methods. His lab develops high-resolution genomic-scale profiling techniques to study aging, brain tumors, and tissue dynamics.
- Education: PhD in Biophysics (The Ohio State University), B.S. in Bioengineering (East China University of Science and Technology)
- Professional Experience: Postdoctoral Fellowships at Harvard University (2018-2024) and The Ohio State University (2016-2017)
Research interests include spatial multi-omics for in situ cell profiling, machine learning integration of imaging and genomics, and applications in precision medicine. Recent work emphasizes brain cell atlas construction and cross-species cortical comparisons using MERFISH technology. Over 300+ citations in top journals like Nature and Science.
Current projects involve analyzing aging-related cellular changes in brain tumors and developing proteome/metabolome imaging methods.
