Dr Melody Mei Yan Chan is a Research Fellow at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Queensland. She is affiliated with the Queensland Brain Institute under the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences. Her research focuses on autism spectrum disorders (ASD), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), neuroimaging, and cognitive neuroscience.
Key research areas include:
- Neural mechanisms of creative thought in health and disease
- Theta-band oscillations and excitation-inhibition balance in ASD
- Neurophysiological effects of mind-body exercise
- Language production and semantic interference across age groups
- Modulation of brain connectivity through tDCS interventions
Her recent publications highlight trends in tDCS applications for social and cognitive deficits in ASD, brain plasticity studies using EEG/fNIRS, and cross-domain meta-analyses of neural networks. She serves as an associate advisor for PhD projects on creative cognition and is available for supervision. Collaborations span institutions in Hong Kong and Australia.
