Melody Johnson serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at University of Northwestern St. Paul's Academy of Music since 2006, directing the Amata Women’s Chorale and providing voice instruction.

Her expertise centers on vocal performance, choral conducting, and opera repertoire. Professor Johnson integrates professional experience from leading roles in Britten's Albert Herring and Mozart's The Magic Flute with concert solo work in Bach's St. Matthew Passion and Handel's Messiah to inform her pedagogy in voice technique, diction, and vocal literature.
She mentors students through private voice lessons and choral direction, fostering artistic development across solo and ensemble contexts while teaching courses including Class Voice and Solo Vocal Literature.
As director of the Amata Women’s Chorale, she provides structured performance opportunities for student musicians within the university community.
