Melissa Silvia

Melissa Silvia is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, within the College of Arts & Sciences. She teaches foundational courses for science and engineering majors, including CHM 155: Modern Chemical Principles I and CHM 163: Intro to Chemistry Lab I.

Her research interests focus on chemistry education and the application of modern scientific theories to undergraduate chemical principles and laboratory techniques. The courses she instructs emphasize stoichiometry, chemical bonding, thermochemistry, and spectrophotometric methods, aligning with broader fields in physical chemistry and chemical reactions.
