Melissa Schuh

Dr. Melissa Schuh is a Lecturer in English Literature and Research and Teaching Fellow at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel, affiliated with the Center of North America Studies. She specializes in life writing, autofiction, contemporary literature, and the ethical dimensions of narrative.

• PhD from Queen Mary University of London (2013–2019)
• MSt in Modern Languages (Comparative Literature) from the University of Oxford (2012–2013)
• BA in Joint Honors English Studies & German from the University of Nottingham (2009–2012)

Her research explores the intersections of autobiography, autofiction, and seriality, with a focus on contemporary and modernist works. Recent publications analyze Rachel Cusk's Outline trilogy, Philip Roth's life writing, and the fictionalization of testimony.

As a liaison lecturer for diversity and equality in the English Department and diversity officer for the philosophical faculty, she offers counseling on inclusivity and welfare. Her work also examines Brexit's literary implications (Brexlit).
