Melissa Moyer Greer is a Professor in the Department of English Philology and German Studies at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She holds a PhD in English Philology (UAB, 1993), an MA in Linguistics from Stanford University (1986), and earlier degrees from UAB (Hispanic Philology, 1983) and Georgetown University (BS in Languages and Linguistics, 1978).
- Leadership roles: Coordinated doctoral and degree programs at UAB (1996–1997).
- Research focus: Multilingualism, sociolinguistics, migration, and intercultural communication, with 52+ publications and 9 research projects funded by institutions like MEC and AGAUR.
Her work addresses linguistic practices in transnational contexts, institutional multilingualism, and the sociopolitical dimensions of language use. Recent projects include analyzing mobility among Spaniards in London (2018) and developing assistive speech technologies (VOICEITT).

She has supervised 11 academic works and contributed to groundbreaking studies on code-switching in West Africa and Gibraltar.
