Melissa M. Reznar, PhD, MPH is an Associate Professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences at Oakland University's School of Health Sciences. She holds a PhD in Human Nutrition from Michigan State University, an MPH in General Epidemiology from the University of Michigan, and a BS in Biomedical Science from Western Michigan University.
Her research focuses on improving diet quality through plant-based food choices among populations transitioning through key life stages, including college students, young children, and prenatal women/infants. She examines intrapersonal factors (attitudes, knowledge), interpersonal influences (social networks), and food environments to design effective nutrition interventions targeting obesity and chronic disease prevention.
Teaching interests include courses on Human Nutrition and Contemporary Topics in Nutrition. Professional memberships include the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, American Society for Nutrition, and Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior.
Personal interests highlight vegan cooking innovation, recipe development, and active lifestyles including Crossfit-style workouts and travel.
