Dr. Melissa M. Casses is an Assistant Professor of Special Education & Educational Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. She holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Science from West Virginia University. Her research focuses on early intervention for children with autism spectrum disorders, family-centered approaches, and integrating yoga into educational practices. Dr. Casses is a certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and yoga educator (E-RYT 200, YACEP), blending developmental psychology and wellness into her teaching. She has authored several publications, including the children’s book Get Down with Dog: A Yoga Story, and has led initiatives in early intervention services and racial equity training. Her professional experience includes operating her own yoga studio and contributing to peer-reviewed research on therapeutic practices.
