Melissa A. Burt is an Associate Professor in the Department of Atmospheric Science and Associate Dean for Access and Success at Colorado State University's Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering. She holds a Ph.D. (2016), M.S. (2008), and B.S. (2005) in Atmospheric Science/Meteorology from Colorado State University and Millersville University. Her research focuses on discipline-based education research, emphasizing science identity, mentorship, social justice in STEM, and climate communication. She leads the Burt Research Group, which explores educational innovations in atmospheric science, including field campaign training and DEI initiatives.
