Melinda Mushonga

Dr. Melinda Mushonga is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oncology at Queen’s University and a Radiation Oncologist at Kingston General Hospital. Her clinical expertise includes breast, gynecological, and lung cancers, as well as brain metastases. She focuses on advancing global oncology through equitable access to radiation therapy and improving clinical outcomes in under-resourced settings.

Education: Medical degree and Clinical Oncology training at the University of Zimbabwe, followed by a Radiation Oncology Clinical Fellowship at the University of Toronto.

Research interests emphasize global oncology, culturally appropriate cancer care, and strengthening collaborative clinical trials across income settings. She leads initiatives in image-guided brachytherapy for gynecological cancers and bidirectional education in low- and high-income regions.

Awards include the Africa Cancer Leader Institute Fellowship, ASCO editorial roles, and the ASCO Young Investigator Award. She contributes to organizations like AORTIC, ASCO, and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
