Melinda Coleman

Melinda Coleman is an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Southern Cross University, and a Principal Research Scientist with the Regional NSW Department of Primary Industries. Her research focuses on kelp forest ecology, restoration, and conservation genomics, with a global impact on marine ecosystem management. She pioneered the 'green gravel' restoration technology, reversing kelp forest decline and earning a Green Globe Award. Her work integrates proactive climate-ready strategies, positioning NSW as a leader in environmental management.

Her research has secured over $8M in external funding, including 12 ARC grants, and she has over 100 publications in top journals. She actively contributes to the scientific community through editorial roles and keynote presentations at international conferences.
