Dr Melina Mandelbaum is a Research Fellow and Affiliated Lecturer in the German Section of the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics at the University of Cambridge, with additional affiliation at King's College. Her work intersects literary studies, political theory, and cultural analysis, focusing on narratives of citizenship and political agency.
- Education: BA in International Studies (Goldsmiths), MSc in Comparative Politics (LSE), MPhil in European Literature and Culture (Cambridge), PhD (Cambridge)
Her research addresses historical and contemporary representations of citizenship in German literature, including the EU Horizon/UKRI project The Cartography of the Political Novel in Europe, and future-oriented visions in policy and cultural artifacts. Recent publications analyze temporal politics in the GDR, statelessness in modernist fiction, and technology policy narratives.

Mandelbaum convenes the interdisciplinary seminar Cultural Production and Social Justice and contributes to undergraduate teaching on German culture and literary translation. She previously held an AHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship and received multiple scholarships during her PhD.
