Melba Crawford

Melba Crawford is the Nancy Uridil and Francis Bossu Professor at Purdue University, holding joint appointments in the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering, the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the Department of Agronomy. As an IEEE Fellow and former President of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society, she is a globally recognized authority in remote sensing technology development and applications.

Her research program pioneers signal and image processing methodologies for environmental monitoring, natural resource management, and agricultural innovation. Currently co-leading a major Purdue initiative between agriculture and engineering colleges, she develops sensing technologies to advance climate-resilient plant breeding and farming practices. This interdisciplinary work bridges engineering precision with agricultural science to address food security challenges amid accelerating climate change.

Dr. Crawford's exceptional contributions are honored by:
