Melanie Storie

Melanie Storie, Ph.D., is a Master Lecturer and Undergraduate Advisor in the Department of History at East Tennessee State University's School of Humanities and Social Sciences. An ETSU alumna (B.S. 1991, M.A. 1994), she earned her Ph.D. in History from Liberty University in 2023, graduating with honors. Her research explores Southern Appalachia through the lenses of memory, regional identity, and conflict.

Dr. Storie's academic specialties include:

She has published a book on Tennessee Union Cavalry (2013) and articles analyzing guerrilla warfare, historical figures, and veteran commemoration.

As Undergraduate Advisor, she mentors students toward academic and career success, emphasizing historical engagement and critical analysis.
