Melanie M. Cooper is a Professor of Chemistry and the Lappan-Phillips Professor of Science Education at Michigan State University (MSU), holding joint appointments in the Department of Chemistry and Department of Teacher Education. She is also a faculty member of the CREATE for STEM Institute.

Her research focuses on chemistry education, curriculum reform, and science education pedagogy, particularly in large-enrollment general and organic chemistry courses. Cooper is a leader in evidence-based teaching methods and has significantly contributed to STEM education reform.
