Melanie Loy serves as a Research Assistant with teaching load in the Department of Social Work at Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin. For the Winter Semester 2025/26, she teaches German Sign Language I (A1.1), German Sign Language II (A1.2), and Critical Deaf Studies courses.
Her research focuses on Deaf Studies and Sign Language Linguistics within social work contexts, examining linguistic rights, cultural identity, and inclusive service delivery for deaf communities. She integrates critical disability theory into her pedagogy to challenge ableist frameworks in social services.
