Melanie Hilgers

Melanie Hilgers is a Clinical Associate Professor at the School of Health Sciences under the College of Health and Human Sciences at Kansas State University. She has been serving as the clinic director of the K-State Speech and Hearing Center since August 2007, overseeing daily operations, instructing students, supervising graduate clinicians, and establishing externship sites for off-campus placements.

Her expertise focuses on communication development and disorders in preschool to school-aged populations, early intervention strategies, auditory processing disorders, and clinical instruction and supervision. She has extensive experience in direct speech and language service provision for children aged 3–21 years and emphasizes mentoring future speech-language pathologists through hands-on training and education.
