معرفی
Associate Professor Meilang Xue is a prominent researcher at the University of Sydney's Northern Clinical School and serves as Head of the Sutton Arthritis Research Laboratory. Her work bridges medicine, immunology, and molecular biology with a focus on clinical applications for inflammatory and autoimmune conditions.
Her research interests center on arthritis, autoimmunity, cell biology, diabetes, and immunology, with particular emphasis on the role of protein C receptor in inflammatory pathways. Professor Xue has developed a substantial body of work exploring how activated protein C regulates inflammation, wound healing, and autoimmune responses, particularly in rheumatoid arthritis.
Her publication record shows consistent research output with a clear focus on molecular mechanisms underlying inflammatory diseases. Her recent work has expanded into translational applications, including patents for skin ulcer treatments and agents preventing abnormal scarring, demonstrating progression from basic science to clinical applications. Her research integrates animal models, cellular/molecular approaches, and treatment interventions.
Professor Xue has secured continuous research funding from diverse sources including the Perpetual Trustees Charitable Trusts, Arthritis Foundation of Australia, and The Lincoln Centre. Her grants consistently focus on protein C receptor, protease-activated receptors, and their roles in rheumatoid arthritis pathogenesis and treatment.
She leads the Sutton Arthritis Research Laboratory, which appears to focus on the molecular mechanisms of inflammatory arthritis, with particular attention to endothelial protein C receptor (EPCR) and protease-activated receptors (PARs). Her laboratory work spans from basic molecular studies to preclinical animal models and clinical applications.
