Meijing Liang is a Researcher and PhD Candidate at the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, part of Washington State University's College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences. Their work focuses on integrating genomic and computational methods to advance plant and animal breeding. Under the advisement of Dr. Zhiwu Zhang, Liang’s research includes genome-wide association studies (GWAS), genomic selection, and applying machine learning (e.g., ConvNeXt models) to agricultural challenges such as crop disease classification and forage prediction using UAV imagery.
Education:
- B.S. in Animal Science (Northeast Agricultural University, China)
- M.S. in Animal Breeding and Genetics (Northeast Agricultural University, China)
Research Interests:
- Statistical Genomics and Quantitative Genetics
- Remote Sensing and GIS applications in agriculture
- Deep learning for plant disease detection and crop yield prediction
- Bioinformatics in genomic selection for crop improvement
Current Projects: Developing convolutional neural networks for wheat kernel classification and using UAV-based remote sensing for alfalfa forage prediction.
