Mehtap Eklund is an Associate Professor in the Accountancy Department at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL), part of the College of Business. She holds a Ph.D. in Accounting and International Management from the University of St Gallen, Switzerland, where her dissertation focused on CEO compensation in Swiss listed companies. With extensive academic and professional experience across Europe, North America, and beyond, she has served as a visiting professor in Finland, France, and Turkey, and worked as an auditor at Deloitte and Ernst & Young.

Her research focuses on corporate governance, executive compensation fairness, entrepreneurship, and innovative teaching methods in business education. Her work also explores the sharing economy's impact on tourism and housing markets. Eklund is a Regional Governance Partner at the Board Foundation (Switzerland) and editor of volumes on entrepreneurship and high-impact teaching practices.
Recent research highlights include analyzing Airbnb's regional tourism effects, post-COVID-19 executive compensation trends, and the role of corporate governance in mitigating market risks. She actively integrates experiential learning methods in courses like ACC 222 (Accounting Principles II) and ACC 325 (Cost Accounting).
