Mehra Golshan, MD, MBA, is a Professor of Surgery (Oncology, Breast) at Yale School of Medicine and holds leadership roles including Executive Vice Chair of Surgery, Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Surgical Services at Smilow Cancer Hospital, and Director of Medical Education in Surgery. He specializes in breast surgical oncology with a focus on minimizing invasive procedures through neoadjuvant therapies and advanced imaging. His research spans over 150 peer-reviewed publications, emphasizing clinical trials and outcomes in breast cancer treatment.
Education: MD from Case Western Reserve University (1996), MBA from MIT Sloan School (2019). Previously held roles at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, including inaugural Dr. Abdul Mohsen and Sultana Al-Tuwaijri Distinguished Chair in Surgical Oncology.
Research Interests: Personalized breast cancer therapy, axillary surgery de-escalation, health equity in oncology, and surgical innovation. Notable projects include the I-SPY2 trial evaluating axillary management and hybrid operating room techniques using MRI/mass spectrometry.
Professional Contributions: Board Member of National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), Chair of NAPBC Education Committee, and Commissioner at Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
