Mehmet Rüştü Taner is an Associate Professor and Head of the Industrial Engineering Department at TED University. He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University (2001), an M.S. from the same institution (1998), and a B.S. from Middle East Technical University (1996). His research focuses on scheduling theory, logistics, supply chain optimization, and reliability engineering.
Research interests include heuristic methods for discrete optimization, warranty cost analysis, and vehicle routing systems. Notable projects include mobile blood donation logistics and radar beam scheduling for defense applications.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on optimization in industrial contexts, including healthcare logistics, manufacturing scheduling, and reliability modeling. Recent works explore hub location effects and selective vehicle routing.
Dr. Taner has supervised multiple graduate students and led research projects funded by TÜBİTAK, Renault Turkey, and ASELSAN. Teaching includes courses in Mathematical Programming, Quality Control, and Operations Planning.
