معرفی
Mehmet Poyraz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University. He holds positions in both the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, specifically within the Construction and Manufacturing division. With a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from Süleyman Demirel University completed in 2019, he has established himself as an active researcher in materials science and engineering.
Dr. Poyraz's educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (1999-2005), Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (2008-2010), and Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering (2011-2019), all from Süleyman Demirel University. His research interests focus on tribology, thin film coatings, materials characterization, and renewable energy applications, particularly in the development of materials for hydrogen production.
His publication record shows a strong focus on RF magnetron sputtering techniques for applying various coatings, with particular emphasis on MoS2 thin films, NiTi coatings for biomedical applications, and composite materials. Recent work has expanded into photocatalytic water splitting for hydrogen production, indicating a strategic shift toward renewable energy research. His publications appear in journals such as Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics, International Journal of Materials & Product Technology, and International Journal of Surface Science and Engineering.
Dr. Poyraz serves as a researcher on two significant projects: an ongoing TÜBİTAK project (2024-2026) focused on catalyst development for renewable hydrogen production, and a completed project (2016-2019) investigating tribological properties of MoS2 thin film coatings. He also contributes to academic service as a reviewer for journals including Composite Materials and Afyon Kocatepe University Journal of Science and Engineering.
Currently, he teaches 'Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights' courses for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 academic years. His citation record shows growing impact, with several publications receiving multiple citations, particularly his work on electrospun fibers of liquid crystal mixtures and tribological properties of MoS2 thin films.
