Prof. Dr. Mehmet NEBIOGLU is a Professor at Sakarya University's Department of Chemistry within the Faculty of Science. His academic journey includes a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Boğaziçi University (1996), followed by M.Sc. (2000) and Ph.D. (2005) in Chemical Sciences from Sakarya University, where he became an Associate Professor in 2013 and later a full Professor.
His research focuses on organic chemistry and renewable energy materials, with expertise in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), asymmetric synthesis, and phthalocyanine complexes. Key areas include designing novel organic dyes, optimizing photovoltaic performance, and developing catalytic methods for green chemistry applications.
Recent publications (2020-2024) demonstrate a strong emphasis on enhancing solar cell efficiency through co-sensitization techniques, molecular engineering of dyes, and exploring natural sensitizers. Trends indicate interdisciplinary work bridging synthetic chemistry, materials science, and energy technology.
Awards & Honors:
- TÜBİTAK Publication Incentive Award (2012)
- Sakarya University Scientific Research Projects Commission Publication Award (2012)
Academic Leadership: He has supervised 12+ Master's students (e.g., Meryem PİR, Emine ÖZ) and led major research projects, including TÜBİTAK-funded initiatives on DSSC materials (e.g., Project No: 117Z323, 120Z664). He also directed the Biomedical, Magnetic and Semiconductor Materials Research Center (2020-2022) and served as Head of Chemistry Department (2021-2025).
