He currently holds the position of Doctoral Lecturer (Doktor Öğretim Üyesi) since 2022, having previously served as a Lecturer (Öğretim Görevlisi) from 2011-2022. He also holds several administrative positions including Vocational School Manager (2023-2025) and roles at Kastamonu Technology Transfer Office and Technopark.
His educational background includes:
- PhD in Forest Industry Engineering, Kastamonu University (2014-2020)
- Master's Degree in Furniture and Decoration Education (Thesis), Duzce University (2009-2012)
- Bachelor's Degree in Furniture and Decoration Teaching, Abant İzzet Baysal University (2004-2008)
Dr. KARAMANOĞLU's research focuses on Wood Processing and Furniture Technology and Wood Protection Technology. His work examines the physical, mechanical, and surface properties of wood materials, particularly after treatments such as heat treatment, chemical modification, and nanoparticle applications. He investigates how these treatments affect wood's durability, color stability, hardness, and resistance to environmental factors like weathering and disinfectants. His research has significant implications for the furniture industry, particularly in developing more durable and sustainable wood products that can withstand various environmental stresses while maintaining aesthetic qualities.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on advanced wood treatment techniques, including Japanese wood burning (Shou Sugi Ban), nanoparticle-modified varnishes, and heat treatment processes. His work spans both fundamental research on wood properties and applied studies relevant to the furniture manufacturing industry. The interdisciplinary nature of his research combines materials science, mechanical engineering, and traditional woodworking techniques to develop innovative solutions for wood protection and enhancement.
His scientific achievements include:
- Sosyal Sorumluluk Ödulleri Mansiyon, Akdeniz İhracatçı Birlikleri (2013)
Dr. KARAMANOĞLU has secured multiple research grants, including several TÜBİTAK projects as principal investigator, focusing on specialized TÜBİTAK 2209 projects for university students and scientific activity organization skills development for academics. He has also led projects related to wood biscuit production systems and Olympic starting gate production. His administrative experience includes coordinating Farabi and Erasmus units, serving on management boards, and acting as Deputy Vocational School Manager.
He is actively involved in the woodworking and furniture industry research community, collaborating with colleagues at Kastamonu University and other institutions on various research initiatives related to wood material properties, furniture design, and manufacturing processes.
