Meghann Ormond is an Associate Professor in Cultural Geography at Wageningen University & Research (WUR), Netherlands. Her research focuses on transnational mobility, migrant heritage, healthcare systems, and transformative learning. She holds a PhD in Geography (University of St Andrews, 2011), a PgDip in Geography (University of Lisbon, 2005), and a BA in Middle Eastern Studies and Geography (University of Colorado-Boulder, 2002).
Ormond’s work emphasizes participatory and arts-based approaches, addressing how mobility impacts citizenship, heritage, and healthcare. She co-coordinates the CSPS Transformative Learning Hub and teaches transformative qualitative research methods. She is a member of the Wageningen Young Academy and the CUCo Board, leading initiatives like the Roots Guide and Migrantour Utrecht.
Her recent publications explore equity in tourism, climate justice, and healthcare policies. Key awards include the 2011 RGS-IBG Jacques May Award for her PhD thesis on health geography. She advises PhD students on topics like migration and global citizenship education and collaborates with NGOs and policymakers to advance health equity.
Ormond advocates for inclusive university practices through transformative pedagogy and interdisciplinary collaboration. She co-developed the CUCo Spark training program and contributes to editorial boards, including Current Issues in Tourism.
