Meghan Murphy-Lee

Dr. Meghan Murphy-Lee is a Senior Lecturer in Slavic Languages at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, within the College of Letters & Science's Department of Ancient & Modern Languages, Literatures, & Cultures. She specializes in Russian language instruction and research on second language acquisition.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Slavic Languages and Literatures from University of Kansas
• M.A. in Russian Language and Literature from University of Arizona
• B.A. in International Studies from Illinois Wesleyan University

Her research employs classroom-based methodologies to investigate how intermediate students acquire Russian, with specific focus on writing assessment reliability, instrumental case acquisition, and reading strategies. Current projects examine reading comprehension connections between first and second languages.

Publications address core aspects of Russian language pedagogy, including letter-sound correspondence and grammatical case acquisition. Her scholarship reflects consistent interest in practical classroom applications of linguistic theory.
