Meghan Dabkowski

Meghan Dabkowski is an Associate Professor of Spanish, Portuguese, and Linguistics at the University of Delaware's Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures within the College of Arts & Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics from The Ohio State University (2018), an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Pittsburgh (2012), and a B.A. in Spanish & Film Studies from the same university (2002). Her research focuses on sociophonetic variation, intonation-pragmatic intersections, and stigmatized language varieties, with a specialization in Spanish and Portuguese linguistics.

Dr. Dabkowski teaches courses including Advanced Spanish Composition, Spanish Phonetics/Phonology, and Spanish in the U.S.: Language, Power, & Identity. Her work bridges acoustic analysis and sociolinguistic theory, examining topics like Mexico City Spanish vowel reduction and Northeastern Brazilian Portuguese intonation patterns. She has published widely on linguistic variation and pedagogical materials development.
