Dr Megan McElhone is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Monash University. Previously, she held a lectureship at Birkbeck, University of London (2020-24). Her research focuses on policing, race, and racism, particularly examining the targeted policing of Middle Eastern communities in Sydney and institutional racism within UK policing. She is preparing a book titled Middle Eastern Crime: Orientalist Policing and Politics in Sydney.

Advising & Grants: Accepts PhD students in criminology and policing studies. Active in editorial roles including Policing: An International Journal and the European Research Council's RECEDE project advisory board.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with global researchers on criminal justice reform and custody oversight through the RECEDE project.
