Megan Doczi is a Professor and Chair of Biology at Norwich University's College of Arts & Sciences, serving as Neuroscience Program Coordinator. She teaches human anatomy/physiology, neuroscience, and nervous system diseases, while leading undergraduate research opportunities in her lab. Her work focuses on voltage-gated potassium channels in hypothalamic circuit development related to energy regulation.
Education:
- B.A. in neuroscience from Drew University
- Ph.D. in anatomy and neurobiology from the University of Vermont
Her research investigates the developmental roles of voltage-gated potassium channels in avian embryonic hypothalamus, particularly their impact on food intake and energy expenditure circuits. Earlier studies examined Kv1.3 and Kv1.2 channel modulation through protein interactions.
Research Trends: Over 12 years, her publications span developmental neuroscience (2019, 2016), molecular physiology (2011, 2008), and cellular signaling (2007), consistently focusing on potassium channel functions in hypothalamic neurons across embryonic stages.
Lab Activities: Leads the Neuroscience Laboratory at Norwich University, mentoring undergraduates in summer and academic-year research projects studying hypothalamic circuit development.
