Dr Megan Crawford is a Lecturer in the School of Psychological Sciences & Health at the University of Strathclyde since 2019. Her academic journey includes a PhD from the University of Glasgow, a Postdoctoral position in Chicago, and roles at Swansea University. She specializes in sleep research, focusing on optimizing treatments for chronic sleep disorders such as insomnia and sleep apnea, with a particular emphasis on digital interventions and treatment adherence.
Her research interests encompass improving access to psychological treatments through digital tools, evaluating the generalizability of therapies across populations (e.g., chronic migraine patients), and understanding adherence mechanisms. She has contributed to studies on sleep’s societal impact, such as the policy implications of daylight saving time and sleep’s role in workplace health.
Megan teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Health Psychology and leads the MSc Health Psychology Related to Medical Conditions. She collaborates on grants including projects on 24-hour movement behaviors in adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes and intellectual disabilities, and has received awards such as the Best Poster Presentation (2016) and Best Young Researcher Poster (2007).
