Meera Sridhar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Software and Information Systems at the University of North Carolina Charlotte (UNC Charlotte). She leads the CCI SmartHome IoT Lab and the Center for Energy Security And Reliability (CESAR). Her research focuses on cybersecurity, formal methods, and their applications to web, mobile, and IoT systems. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Dallas and advanced degrees from Carnegie Mellon University.
Dr. Sridhar has received significant funding including a $1.5M grant from the UNC System for secure power grid research and an NSF grant for cybersecurity education. Her work spans malware detection (e.g., Jadeite), exploit generation frameworks (HybridGuard), and educational tools like DISSAV for stack-smashing visualization.
Key contributions include analyzing ActionScript vulnerabilities ("Flash in the Dark"), securing hybrid mobile apps, and developing IoT security solutions. She advises multiple Ph.D. students and actively contributes to conferences like ACM SIGCSE and IEEE ISI. Her labs focus on emerging threats in smart devices and energy infrastructure.
