Dr. Mecit Can Emre Simsekler is an Associate Professor at the Department of Management Science and Engineering at Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Abu Dhabi. He also holds an Honorary Research Fellow position at the University College London (UCL) School of Management, London, and is a Visiting Scholar at Boston Children’s Hospital (affiliated with Harvard Medical School) and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in 2015, with research visits to the University of Tokyo (2012) and Boston Children’s Hospital (2014). Post-PhD, he worked as a Research Associate at UCL School of Management (2015-2016).
His research focuses on healthcare analytics and management, leveraging artificial intelligence, machine learning, and systems thinking to enhance healthcare operational efficiency, patient safety, and risk-based decision-making. He emphasizes digital transformation and sustainable health systems.
Dr. Simsekler has contributed to multiple research grants on healthcare operations and analytics. He is an active member of professional organizations like INFORMS, IISE, and EUROMA.
His advising and grants span interdisciplinary projects, with a focus on healthcare systems and risk management. He collaborates across academia and healthcare institutions to advance practical applications of analytics in healthcare.
