Meagan Cass

Meagan Cass is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Illinois Springfield, specializing in creative writing and fiction. Awarded a 2021 Jentel Foundation residency, she develops literary works exploring themes of loss, memory, and interpersonal dynamics through experimental narrative forms.

Creative research focuses on:

• Intersections of sports and personal history
• Metaphysical representations of grief
• Place-centered storytelling

Her current projects include revision of short fiction involving women athletes receiving posthumous gifts from their mothers, and symbolic explorations of mourning processes.
