Md Saiful Islam

Md Saiful Islam is an Assistant Professor (on study leave) at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and a Google PhD Fellow in Health Research at the University of Rochester's Computer Science Department. He works under Prof. Ehsan Hoque in the Rochester Human-Computer Interaction Lab, focusing on accessible healthcare solutions through AI.

His research spans three primary domains:

• Healthcare AI: Developing PARK (Parkinson's Analysis with Remote Kinetic-tasks) for video-based movement disorder screening, digital biomarker extraction, and LLM-driven clinical triage
• Physiological Sensing: Creating earbud-based monitoring systems for heart rate and blood pressure using PPG/BCG signals
• Sustainability NLP: Building knowledge graphs like KnowUREnvironment for climate change applications

Recent publication trends (2023-2025) show dominant focus on Parkinson's disease diagnostics (60% of output), with growing contributions in physiological sensing (25%) and sustainable computing (15%).
