Dr Md Jahangir Alam is a Research Fellow at Monash University's Biomedicine Discovery Institute (BDI), working in the Therapeutic Antibodies for Inflammation Lab. His research focuses on developing therapeutic monoclonal antibodies targeting GPCRs for autoimmune diseases, inflammatory disorders, and cancer, leveraging human receptor knock-in mice models. He completed his PhD in Immunology at Monash University under Prof. Charles Mackay and Assoc. Prof. Remy Robert, specializing in preclinical models and gut microbiota modulation strategies. His work bridges academic research and translational medicine, with contributions to SDGs addressing health and sustainable communities.
Education: PhD in Immunology (Monash University, 2023); MSc and BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology (University of Dhaka, Bangladesh). Research interests include antibody therapeutics, GPCR biology, and microbiota-based therapies. His lab is recognized for competing with industry in anti-GPCR antibody development.
Key research areas involve combining mAbs with dietary interventions to restore immune tolerance, particularly in autoimmune inflammation. Collaborations span global institutions, focusing on microbiota modulation, vaccine efficacy, and pediatric health in Bangladesh. No specific awards are listed, though his work has high citation impact. He has advised no formally listed students but contributes to lab teams and grants in translational medicine.
