Małgorzata Kuchtyk

Dr. hab. Małgorzata Kuchtyk is an Associate Professor at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, where she has served since 2007. She currently holds the position of Head of the Jazz Vocal Studies Department within the Faculty of Choral Conducting, Church Music, Artistic Education, Rhythmics and Jazz.

Her research and artistic interests focus on choral conducting techniques, jazz vocal performance, and the integration of traditional Polish musical elements with contemporary vocal styles. Professor Kuchtyk specializes in both sacred and secular choral music, with particular expertise in Kashubian language music traditions and gospel vocal arrangements. Her work bridges academic music education with practical performance techniques for vocal ensembles.

Throughout her career, Professor Kuchtyk has received significant recognition for her contributions to music education and choral conducting:

• Doctor of Arts degree (habilitation) in musical arts, artistic discipline of conducting (2010)
• Medal of the National Education Commission for special merits in education and upbringing (2014)
• Multiple awards as Head of the Jazz Vocal Studies Department
• "Perła Kaszub" award from the Staroste of Kartuzy County (2005, 2014)
• "Kärteskô Skra" Award from the Mayor of Kartuzy for outstanding cultural achievements

Professor Kuchtyk maintains an active performance career while fulfilling her academic responsibilities. She has successfully balanced administrative leadership, artistic direction, and educational mentorship throughout her tenure at the Academy. Her work with vocal ensembles demonstrates a commitment to both preserving traditional musical forms and innovating within contemporary vocal performance practices.

As conductor of the Cartusia and Kakofonia choirs at the Kartuzy Cultural Center, Professor Kuchtyk has established a significant presence in regional musical life, creating performance opportunities that complement her academic work and provide practical experience for her students.
