Małgorzata Cytryńska

prof. dr hab. Małgorzata Cytryńska is a full Professor at the Department of Immunobiology, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. She leads research on innate immunity mechanisms in invertebrates, focusing on antimicrobial peptides, host-pathogen interactions, and biochemical immune pathways in insects like Galleria mellonella and Apis mellifera.

Her work spans

• Discovery of antimicrobial peptides and their modes of action
• Molecular characterization of phenoloxidase system activation
• Elucidation of α-1,3-glucan as a virulence factor
• Development of lipoprotein-based immune modulators

with grants from the National Science Center (NCN) and Ministry of Science (MNiSW).

Her research team has published on antifungal mechanisms, peptide interactions, and immune evasion strategies, with recent focus on Candida albicans and Legionella interactions with insect proteins. She supervises junior researchers and has been recognized with
