May-Britt Moser is a Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and Founding Director of the Centre for Neural Computation (2013–2022). She co-founded the Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience (2007) and the Centre for the Biology of Memory (2003–2012). Her research focuses on the neural basis of spatial location, memory, and cognition, notably the discovery of grid cells in the entorhinal cortex with Edvard Moser and John O'Keefe.
- PhD in Neurophysiology, University of Oslo (1995)
Her work explores the functional organization of grid-cell circuits and their role in hippocampal memory. Recent publications address neural dynamics, spatial coding, and environmental influences on brain circuits.
Key Awards:
- 2014: Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine
- 2014: Karl Spencer Lashley Award
- 2013: Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize
- 2012: Perl-UNC Neuroscience Prize
- 2011: Louis-Jeantet Prize for Medicine
Her lab leads projects like Moser Group, KiloNeurons, and Centre for Algorithms in the Cortex, advancing understanding of brain computation and memory systems.
