Mavromatakis Fotis

Professor Mavromatakis Fotis is a faculty member at the Technical University of Crete (TUC), serving as Dean of the School of Technological Applications and Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering. He leads the institutionalized Energy and Photovoltaic Systems Laboratory and has extensive administrative experience, including heading the Department of Electrical Engineering (2014–2016) and roles in TUC's Management Committee and procurement processes.

Research Focus: His work centers on photovoltaic systems, solar energy applications, and energy efficiency. Key areas include modeling photovoltaic power generation, analyzing the solar electromagnetic spectrum (UV to near-infrared), and optimizing solar thermal systems for space heating and agricultural desiccation. He has contributed to 43 peer-reviewed publications and international conferences.

Projects & Grants: Led major initiatives such as the ARCHIMEDES III project on photovoltaic power forecasting, solar drying of agricultural products, and the PEGA graduate training program. Participated in EU-funded ARCHIMEDES and INTERREG programs.

Professional Engagement: Serves as a reviewer for journals like Solar Energy, Atmospheric Measurement Techniques, and Energies. Actively involved in tender evaluation and institutional governance at TUC.
